Inviting Development Catalysts to Support One of Nepal’s Most Ardent & Critical Causes

Our country is confronting a difficult energy scenario as underscored in a note on this portal, captioned “The Renewal Energy Imperative”. We are into a catastrophic poise of carbon emission. There is massive deforestation happening in the country. This, inter alia, causes colossal health issues with household air pollution taking away thousands of lives and rendering a large number ill, in the country each year. Followed by deforestation, lies the menace of fossil fuel consumption primarily in the residential as well as the transport arena. The sad memories of the devastating earthquake in 2015 make us restless about doing all we can towards neutralizing the handicaps.

We have a huge challenge at hand. Nurturing sustainable, renewable and green energy sources has become an imperative.

Towards this pursuit we are trying to do our bit by offering a state-of-the-art household biogas solution, HomeBiogas, a user-friendly, portable, off-grid unit that converts waste into green energy at fixed costs which are 25 to 30% lower than the conventional RCC structured plants. The beauty of the solution is that it serves urban as well as rural households with kitchen waste, agricultural waste/residue or animal manure coming handy as the input.

We have taken this mantle up as a social cause. We know that reaching this solution to maximum no of households shall help cut on carbon emissions that a climatically vulnerable country like us can ill-afford. Instead, we will be able to move towards a green and circular economy – duly achieving energy security if all concerned agencies (the government, the development organizations, multilateral and bilateral support institutions) support this indispensable cause for wider reach and towards doing justice to the pledge on SDGs – needless to mention that a biogas solution addresses 9 of the 17 SDGs!

HomeBiogas has been on the forefront of technological innovation in this arena and has been acknowledged as a leader in the cause. It has worked on projects in partnership with the likes of World Bank, European Union, US Aid, SNV and more. In fact, the EU has funded the HomeBiogas TG6 Project to the tune of 1.6 Million Euros from theEuropean Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

The objective of this program is to offer food businesses an innovative, affordable biogas system able to convert up to 100 kg of organic waste per day into clean energy with a short (<36 months) payback period and advanced features. HOMEBIOGAS TG6 will reduce food businesses’ energy and waste disposal charges while decreasing their environmental footprint. The following link provides an insight into some of the presentations and tie-ups of HomeBiogas including ones with the energy giants Engie. https://www.homebiogas.com/Horizon2020_Project

HomeBiogas presentsits technological marvel to the UN Secretary General and the Prime Minister:

HomeBiogas selected out of 4 innovative companies to present to new UN Secretary General, AntónioGuterres, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, the company’s technology and appliance as a solution for climate change.

HomeBiogas at the WATEC Conference:

Presenting HomeBiogas Pilots to the Clean Cooking Forum:

At the Clean Cooking Forum , a landmark, biennial gathering to accelerate the production, deployment, and use of cleaner, more efficient cook-stoves and fuels was held in India. HomeBiogas had the opportunity to show theparticipants the operating HomeBiogas appliances that has been deployed in India. Locals, who once cooked on animal dung and over open fires, are now able to cook over a clean, smokeless biogas flame!

HomeBiogas is the most efficient and cost-competitive solution to gradually reduce and eventually end the challenges confronting Nepal’s energy crisis at the household level replacing use of solid biomass (firewood) and fossil fuel. We cannot do it alone – but together with you, we can achieve dividends which may hitherto not have been envisaged.

What more can we look for? Converting waste into energy at zero recurring cost and in parallel also managing waste! A plethora of advantages listed on this portal, that accrue, gives us a feeling that the proclamations made at large by several organizations to help solve this crisis, needs a serious review. The solution is right here – all we need is a will to achieve it.

We shall appreciate a discussion with all development catalysts genuinely interested in a solution.
